Why FilingBrief exists

What changes when the filing
does the work for you.

Without FilingBrief

Reading 10-Ks by hand

  • 4-8 hours per 10-K. You skim what you should read.
  • Miss the buried Item 1A change — the one that mattered.
  • Tabs across 6 SEC pages just to find one disclosure.
  • ChatGPT hallucinates the page number you needed.
With FilingBrief

Reading filings with discipline

  • 5-minute brief on any 10-K, ranked by severity.
  • Year-over-year diff surfaces every new or reworded risk.
  • Watchlist scan tells you what filings dropped this week, before the price moves.
  • Insider trades read with 10b5-1 detection — no false signals.
3 real workflows

What you actually do with FilingBrief.

Concrete scenarios, not abstract features. This is what most buyers use it for in the first week.

2

"What did my watchlist do this week?"

Run the SEC Filings Monitor on your 10-25 tickers every Sunday. Get a chronological feed of 8-Ks (with item numbers), 10-Qs, proxy filings — surfaces the regulatory story before the price story. Time: 8 minutes.

→ SEC Filings Monitor
3

"Are insiders actually buying?"

Give the Insider Trades Scanner a ticker. Pull the last 12 Form 4 filings, separate genuine open-market buying from RSU mechanics, distinguish 10b5-1 plans from discretionary trades. Time: 4 minutes.

P

Why I built FilingBrief.

I used to spend Sunday afternoons reading 10-Ks by hand. Four hours per filing.

After a year, I'd analyzed maybe 60 companies. I knew the right questions to ask. My time was the bottleneck.

I tried Seeking Alpha for $240/year. The summaries said nothing specific. I tried ChatGPT raw, it hallucinated the page numbers I needed. Bloomberg was $25,000/year, not happening.

So I built a disciplined reading system on top of Claude — one that never invents a number, always cites the page, and never recommends a stock. After six months refining it on my own portfolio, I packaged it. FilingBrief is what I wish I had three years ago.

— Philippe, builder of FilingBrief

FilingBrief just launched, so this is still the only voice on this page. Used it on your own portfolio and have something honest to say, good or bad? hello@getfilingbrief.com, I read every note.

FAQ

Honest answers.

How quickly do I get the files after purchase?

Instantly. Gumroad delivers the download link to your email within seconds of payment confirmation. From there, installation takes about 3 minutes.

Will this work on free Claude or free ChatGPT?

No. The skill format requires Claude Pro / Max / Code, or ChatGPT Plus. If you're not already on one of those, FilingBrief isn't for you yet, but you probably already pay for one (or both). FilingBrief makes that subscription dramatically more useful.

Do I need to know how to code?

No code required for 5 of the 8 skills. For the 3 live-data skills (Insider Trades Scanner, SEC Filings Monitor, ETF Holdings Drill), there's a single Python script you run with one command, no setup, no packages to install. If you can copy-paste, you can use it.

Is this investment advice?

Explicitly no. FilingBrief is educational tooling. It analyzes documents and public data, it does not recommend buying or selling anything. Page citations included so you can verify everything yourself.

What if Claude or ChatGPT updates and breaks the skills?

Highly unlikely. Claude's skill format is a stable Anthropic product. ChatGPT Project Instructions have been supported for years. The Python scripts use the free public SEC EDGAR API, which has been stable since the 1990s. If anything breaks, I push a free update.

What's the difference between Starter and Complete?

Starter ($47) is the 3 core skills (10-K, earnings call, insider trades), enough for most single-name research. Complete ($97) adds the 5 advanced skills (sector comparison, IPO due diligence, cap-table reconstruction, watchlist monitor, ETF holdings drill) — the full retail-DD desk — plus the bonus playbook (50 ready-to-use prompts and 5 worked case studies on real tickers) included at no extra charge. Most buyers choose Complete.

Can I share with friends or colleagues?

The license is single-user, no redistribution. If a friend wants it, the easiest path is for them to buy a copy directly. I'll likely launch an affiliate program at 40% commission soon. If you're interested, email me.

What's the refund policy?

30 days, no questions asked. Email me, I refund. Genuinely, I'd rather have a happy refund than an unhappy customer.

Who built this and why?

I'm a retail investor who spent too many Sunday afternoons reading 10-Ks by hand and got tired of paying $240/year for Seeking Alpha summaries that said nothing specific. FilingBrief is the tool I built for my own portfolio. After six months of refining it on real filings, I packaged it because everyone I know who invests their own money has the same problem.
